I stumbled across this location whilst looking for somewhere new to walk my dogs earlier this year. I used to hate shooting in the woods, but it's since grown on me and it's now one of my favourite locations. I was desperate to get a horse in there and when I found Poppy & her gorgeous dressage mare Tarka were close, it was a must do shoot.

Tarka is a 12 year old Andalusian mare (I think also possibly one of the first Spanish horses I've photographed?) - her and Poppy have been together for 4 years now, they paid just £200 for her after she had 4 homes in 3 years. I think it's safe to say their partnership has blossomed, as in the last few years they've represented England at the Home Internationals, won Spanish BD and have also gained their advance PSG status.

Poppy kept it simple with grey jods and her gorgeous light brown riding boots - we swapped between a blue and red roll neck for ease of changing in the woods which looked really lush against the green.

We had an early start for this one, I do believe we started shooting at about 7:30 am. It was totally worth it though, the light was stunning and the blue hue of the morning looked great with the bluebells poking through.

From ancient woodland to silver birch, bluebells to brown ferns, there was so much variety here that we could have carried on shooting all day. I loved the range of images we got whilst allowing this gorgeous location to speak for itself.
