I need to start this by apologising for the lack of my 2024 shoots I have shared on my blog and social channels so far this year. It has been an incredibly busy year for me, and I spend so much time photographing and creating at the moment that I have fallen very behind on sharing.

I have though, officially, caught up with all my winter shoots from earlier this year. And it's now time to dive into the glorious colours of spring 2024.

This winter has felt harsh and wet and long. But what a sprinkle of sunshine this shoot was; it really came at the right time. I've watched Zoe recently move from her pony to her first horse. Moving up can be such a big step and a lot to get used to in the beginning, but Zoe & Pip have already formed a formidable partnership that absolutely rocks in the show jumping ring.

I never try to hide the fact that chestnuts are my favourite. Especially when you meet a firey, sassy, drop-dead-gorgeous chestnut mare, you just know the shoot is going to be a gorgeous one.

I always encourage my clients to be themselves through their wardrobe choices, but this type of outfit variety has got to be my favourite.

We went through the suitcase of clothes Zoe had brought with her to the yard and picked out a casual crisp white shirt and denim jods outfit as their first more casual look. This was super easy to layer up with a gilet and swapped with a jumper for a swift change. We paired these with the yard area and used places such as the stables, brick wall and walkway to Pip's field.

Pip can be quite firey, so we felt starting closer to home would be a good shout to ease them into their photoshoot.

I must say she was an absolute angel. With the help of Zoe's dad we kept her really engaged and kept things moving, with regular grazing breaks in between poses and outfit changes.

Not all horsey girls enjoy wearing dresses, but Zoe brought this gorgeous pale yellow dress which we saved for the end of the shoot. I felt that using this outfit on the tree lined walkway, closer to sunset to get the golden hour shots was a great way to finish off the shoot.

We did some images of them walking and cuddling, before adding the flower garland to finish off. Zoe very smartly matched the garland with the purple flowers on her dress which gave these images the wow factor.

I just absolutely love the final result of these images, they're just like something out of a dream.

For me, photoshoots with your horse are all about capturing the connection you have.

It's clear that these two have formed such a strong bond in a short space of time, not only on the floor but in the show ring as well. Zoe is also at the point in life where children go from teenagers into adulthood, this everchanging season in their lives is definitely something to celebrate a be reminisced through gorgeous images.

Her family now have beautiful images on their wall that will take them back to this moment in their life; Enjoying a spring sunset with Pip and her dad before she becomes a more independent young lady.
